This is a period house built of cob and stone. As with many properties built of this age, there has been water penetrating the current cement render over a long period.
We have carefully removed the external top half of the gable to expose the original cob ready for the dubbing (Harling coat).
The living room walls have been stripped back to reveal the original stonework so we can survey for any structural issues
As the work continues on this period cottage here are some pictures of the outside lime rendering finish which follows the natural curves of the cob.
After removing the old render we uncovered
An original fireplace. However the lintel had a crack in it so we had to support it and change it for a new one…..
